Power Discourse By Michel Foucault

Power–Discourse is a concept developed by Michel Foucault, which argues that power is not just held by institutions but operates through discourses systems of knowledge, language, and truth that shape how we think and act. According to Foucault, what counts as “truth” in society is produced through these discourses, and they subtly regulate behavior by defining what is normal or acceptable. Power and knowledge are inseparable, meaning knowledge itself can be a form of control. This shifts the focus from visible authority to everyday practices, language, and institutions as sites of power.
