Concept of Lifeworld

Lifeworld (Lebenswelt) refers to the everyday world of lived experience where people create meaning through culture, language, and social interaction. The concept was developed by Edmund Husserl and later expanded by Jürgen Habermas. Habermas argues that the lifeworld is the space of shared understanding and communication, but in modern societies it is increasingly threatened by systems like the market and bureaucracy, which try to control and dominate everyday life. The concept highlights how ordinary interactions and meanings are central to social life and democracy.
